The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Cotton And Polyester-cotton Fabrics

Pure cotton fabric is made of cotton as raw material. Features of pure cotton:

① Hygroscopicity: Cotton fiber has good hygroscopicity, so it makes people feel soft but not stiff.

② Moisturizing property: Because cotton fiber is a poor conductor of heat and electricity, and the cotton fiber itself has the advantages of porosity and high elasticity, a large amount of air can be stored between the fibers.

③ Heat resistance: Pure cotton fabrics have good heat resistance. Below 110 ℃, it can only cause the fabric's water to evaporate without damaging the fibers.

④ Alkali resistance: Cotton fiber has a greater resistance to alkali, which is beneficial for washing and disinfecting contamination after consumption.

⑤ Hygiene: Cotton fiber is a natural fiber. Its main component is cellulose, and there is a small amount of waxy substances, nitrogenous substances and pectin.

Polyester-cotton is a collective name for polyester and cotton blended fabrics.

The characteristics of polyester cotton: its elasticity and abrasion resistance are good under dry and wet conditions, its size is stable, its shrinkage rate is small, it has the characteristics of upright, not easy to wrinkle, easy to wash, and quick-drying.

Disadvantages of polyester cotton: The polyester fiber in polyester cotton has a strong affinity for oil stains, it is easy to adsorb oil stains, and it is easy to generate static electricity and absorb dust during wearing, it is difficult to wash, and it cannot be soaked with high temperature ironing and boiling water. Polyester cotton is a synthetic fiber and cannot be degraded.
